Gabriel SANFÉLIX-GIMENO, PharmD (University of Valencia, 2002), MSc in Health Economics and Pharmacoeconomics (Pompeu Fabra University, 2008) PhD (University of Miguel Hernández de Elche, 2009). After obtaining his doctoral degree, he did a postdoctoral research stay at Harvard School of Public Health (Epidemiology Department) and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School (Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics) between 2011 and 2012 (funded by Carlos III Health Institute and Harvard School of Public Health). At the beginning of his career, after several fellowships regarding medication adherence Gabriel Sanfélix worked as associate researcher (funded by INCLIVA) in the Valencian School of Health Studies in the Health Services Research Unit, where he participated in the creation of a research line studying musculoskeletal disorders. In 2009, he joined the Centre for Public Health Research (CSISP, currently part of FISABIO) as a postdoctoral researcher in the Health Services Research Unit (currently he is head of the aforementioned Research Unit). In 2012 he started a research line centred in generating evidence from routine clinical practice (real world evidence) and pharmacoepidemiology. Additionally, he is the former Scientific Director of FISABIO-SP and member of Executive Committee from the European Drug Utilization Research Group (EuroDURG). His research is focused on increasing the appropriateness of use of evidence-based medications for the treatment of common chronic conditions. Dr. Sanfélix-Gimeno is currently working in several national and international projects as principal investigator and co-investigator regarding medication adherence, appropriate medication use and comparative effectiveness and safety studies.
